Online Technology Benefits

When deciding on the correct type of UPS technology for your application, certain features, such as importance of the equipment or information that is being processed, must be taken into consideration. Mission critical loads requiring full twenty-four hour, seven days a week operating capabilities call for high grade power protection. True on-line technology offers continuous power protection with zero transfer time to battery. However, there is a higher grade of power protection available. DRS Universal Power Systems’s Enhanced True On-line offers premium protection for global applications. This technology has been chosen by all branches of the U.S. military (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy), the National Security Administration (NSA), White House Communications Agency (WHCA), and numerous integrators as the UPS system protecting their mission-critical installations worldwide.

DRS Universal Power Systems’s Enhanced True On-line systems have set higher standards in protecting your mission critical loads. Our technology adapts to surrounding conditions, allowing operations from various power sources and offering worldwide deployment. Our technology provides superior power protection for a small premium in price.

DRS Universal Power Systems’s Enhanced True On-line offers these additional features:

Intelligent Voltage Selection ™(IVS) – Allows the user to operate from global line voltages between 100 – 240 volts. This patented feature monitors the input voltage and frequency, selecting and seamlessly transferring to the most suitable configuration.

Isolation Transformer – Protects the front-end electronics of the UPS by reducing or eliminating input spikes and transients. This technology does not rely solely on MOV and other semi-conductor suppression devices that can be cumulatively or catastrophically damaged and rendered useless.

True on-line and DRS Universal Power Systems’s Enhanced True On-line technology share the following benefits:

Improved output voltage – Output voltage is regulated within a range of 120VAC + 3%; with low distortion from pure sinewave.

Stable output frequency – Since the on-line UPS “regenerates” an AC sinewave, it can control the output frequency to within the range 59Hz to 61Hz.

Input power factor correction – Most on-line UPS have input power factor correction. This enables them to draw less current than a comparably sized line interactive UPS.

Improved input to output noise reduction – The double conversion (AC – DC – AC) of the true on-line technology eliminates input transients.
